Exploring the foreshore with your class: an immersive experience at the heart of biodiversity!

1 min
How can we raise pupils’ awareness of the richness of the coastline and the importance of preserving it? During an educational outing to the foreshore, Year 5 and Year 1 pupils from Erdeven explored this fascinating ecosystem, combining scientific observation with sensory exploration.

Observe to understand

Hidden beneath the seaweed or nestled in the sand, crabs, starfish and shells reveal their secrets. Every encounter becomes a learning opportunity: life cycles, adapting to the tides, interactions between species… All these practical topics help to bring the concepts covered in class to life.

Expressing and consolidating one’s findings

After exploring, it’s time to get creative! By drawing their discoveries and sharing their impressions, the pupils extend the experience and consolidate the knowledge they have gained in the field.

Education for action

Understanding the importance of ecosystems also means realising that we are an integral part of them and that our actions have an impact on their balance. These immersive experiences enable pupils to develop an awareness of environmental issues and a more informed perspective on their surroundings.
