This class, which is part of the Sow My Dream biodiversity programme, is interested in round-the-world sailing races and wanted to understand how Sails of Change organises sporting challenges whilst minimising its impact on biodiversity. Gregory captivated the pupils by sharing anecdotes about life at sea: power naps, freeze-dried meals and the daily challenges of more sustainable sailing.
For our part, we outlined our founders’ commitments to ocean conservation and explained the role of on-board scientific instruments, such as the oceanographic sensor and the microplastic sampler, which enable the collection of data that is essential for research.
And that’s not all! We will continue to support this class as they explore ocean-related challenges through further activities. Among these is the ‘Measure Your Science!’ kit, which will give them the chance to collect and analyse scientific data themselves… but from dry land this time!
